Yearling Sales

Anthony and Matt, leading bloodstock agents based in Newmarket, attend all major yearling sales in UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, North America and South Africa buying yearlings for a wide range of clients at budgets both big and small. Stroud Coleman Bloodstock has an excellent relationship with all sales companies and yearling consignors as well as a superb knowledge of the market. Our proven track record of success on the racecourse with our yearling purchases is something in which we take great pride.

Breeze-up Sales

Each spring the breeze-up sales take place for two year-olds who are yet to go into full training, but are breezed up a racecourse to give potential buyers the opportunity to see the horses galloping under racecourse conditions. Anthony and Matt attend every European breeze-up sale and are proud to have sourced several Group race winners from these sales in recent times, such as:

  • Vandeek - G1 Middle Park Stakes, G1 Prix Morny & G2 Richmond Stakes

  • Sands Of Mali - G1 Champions Sprint, G2 Gimcrack Stakes, G2 Sandy Lane Stakes & G3 Prix Sigy

  • Robin Of Navan - G1 Criterium De Saint Cloud, G2 Meilen Trophy & G3 Prix De Conde

  • A’Ali - G2 Norfolk Stakes, G2 Prix Robert Papin & G2 Flying Childers Stakes

  • Arabian Dusk - G2 Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes

  • Carla’s Way - G2 Rockfel Stakes

  • Prince Of Lir - G2 Norfolk Stakes

Horses in Training

Stroud Coleman Bloodstock purchase racehorses in training at sales in the UK, Ireland and France as well as sourcing horses privately for clients across the globe including USA, Dubai, Hong Kong and Australia. Furthermore, many clients like us to liaise with them throughout a horse’s career to discuss race planning and strategy. This is a service that we provide as part of the package when purchasing a yearling, breeze-up two year-old or an older horse.

Breeding Stock

We attend every breeding stock sale in UK, Ireland and France, in addition to the major sales in North America. Both fillies and broodmares are purchased for breeding as well as foals for both racing and pinhooking for re-sale. Stroud Coleman Bloodstock is also continually on the lookout for breeding stock privately utilising our network across the industry to source fillies and broodmares at value prices. Both Classic winners and big money yearlings at the sales have been produced by mares that we have bought for clients, including recent Group-1 winners Makarova, Thundering Nights and No Speak Alexander.

Stallion Nominations

Securing the popular stallion nominations for broodmares is an extremely competitive market. Due to Anthony and Matt’s knowledge and standing in the industry, in addition to our close working relationship with the stallion farms, we are able to source stallion nominations that others may not be able to. Furthermore, we can often secure better deals than the advertised nomination price. We enjoy working with our clients providing matings advice on all of their broodmares and we book stallion nominations on their behalf free of charge.

Breeding Stock Management

Stroud Coleman Bloodstock has a number of loyal breeders and stud farm owners who work closely together with us to maximise the success of their stock. With regular visits to the farm to assess stock and formulate strategy right through to buying and selling at sales, we provide an all-encompassing service whether the client is breeding to race or to sell into the commercial market.

Long-time client Dayton Investments achieved the incredible feat of breeding three European Classic winners under the management of Stroud Coleman Bloodstock. Miss France, (1,000 Guineas), Paddington (Irish 2,000 Guineas) & Persian King (Poule D’Essai Des Poulains).

Furthermore with Stroud Coleman’s assistance, Brightwalton Stud produced their homebred 2024 Group-1 Prix De L’Abbaye winner Makarova, Manjri Farm’s Shapoor Mistry bred his filly Thundering Nights who was victorious in the 2021 Group-1 Pretty Polly Stakes, while James Rowsells’ Ashbrittle Stud & Mark Dixon achieved Classic success when winning the 2013 Group-1 Oaks with their homebred filly Talent.

Stallion Purchase and Shares

We source stallions privately for stallion farms across the world from Europe to South America, India and Australasia. When a new stallion deal is secured at a stud farm, we also broker shares in stallions for both breeders who wish to use the stallion for their mares and for investors who buy the shares to make money.

Valuations

Stroud Coleman Bloodstock is able to provide appraisals and valuations of stock for both owners and breeders whether for insurance or commercial purposes.
